Life Certificate

Certification of Life Certificates for Sri Lankan Pensioners Living Abroad

All pensioners residing abroad should furnish their life certificates every year to the Department of Pensions, Sri Lanka. You can submit the certificate through this Embassy between 01 December of the previous year to 31 March of the ensuring year. 

The Pensioner could either visit the Embassy or send the certified Life Certificate and other documents by post to the Embassy.

The Original copy of Life Certificates certified by this Embassy are forwarded to the  Department of Pensions by  DPL bag.

Submission in Person – At the Embassy
  • Duly filled Life Certificate
  • For identification purposes, please bring one of following documents
  •  Pension ID Card, if available
  • copy of valid Sri Lankan Passport and residence permit
  •  In case of a dual citizen, certificate of dual citizenship and copy of foreign passport
  • Copy of the Sri Lankan NIC, if available  
  • Bank documents, if any
For submission by post
  • Duly completed Life Certificate should be attested by the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in the country of residence (Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia,  & Sweden (Gothernburg), Norway (Bergen & Kristiansand) or by a Notary public.
  • Other supporting documents

The Life Certificates certified by this Embassy are forwarded to the Department of Pensions by DPL bag. The applicants 

All Sri Lankan pensioners, including those residing overseas, will be required thereafter to hold a Sri Lankan bank account to which their pension will be paid.

  • The Embassy is not responsible for any document lost in the post.
  • Incomplete applications will not be certified by the Embassy.
  • Applicant can request copy of certified documents for their reference with paying of postage fee  : (In Sweden) SEK 180/ (Out of Sweden) SEK 140
