Sri Lanka’s Ambassador presents Credentials to King Frederik X of Denmark
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark Kapila Fonseka presented his Credentials to His Majesty Frederik X, the King of Denmark, at a ceremony held at the Christiansborg Castle in Copenhagen. Ambassador Fonseka will serve as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Denmark with residence in Stockholm.
During the presentation of Credentials, he conveyed warm greetings and best wishes
from the President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Denmark. Reciprocating his greetings the King of Denmark expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Denmark.
During his visit to Denmark for the presentation of Credentials, the Ambassador held high-level meetings with senior officials of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies. His programme included meetings with Asia House CEO Dewi Dylander,
Confederation of Danish Industries (Dansk Industri) Chief Consultant Ole Linnet Juul and Director Market Development Jens Holst-Nielsen as well as MAERSK Vice President Camilla Jain Hoitse. These discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, with particular attention to trade, tourism, and investment promotion between the two countries.
The Ambassador also visited the Sri Lankan Buddhist temple in Copenhagen and called on the Chief Incumbent Ven Marathugoda Uparathana thero. He also met with the
members of the Sri Lankan community in Denmark and exchanged ideas on the
challenges they face and possible solutions. He emphasized the importance of closer cooperation between the Sri Lankan community and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in
Stockholm.
The longstanding and cordial relations between Sri Lanka and Denmark have strengthened since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1953. Sri Lanka looks forward to further expansion of relations with the Kingdom of Denmark in the coming years.
